Of course, the goal is to make something that doesn’t actually look cheap. These eggs started off as plastic ones that I found buried in my Easter decorations bin. I had some leftover jute twine from my woven bench and of course I had glass glitter
in my craft stash, so the only supply I bought was this preserved moss
.
I had plans to make the jute wrapped eggs from the get-go, but then I saw these adorable moss covered eggs from Twelve on Main and I knew I needed to add a few to my egg basket.
For the jute eggs, I started at the top and use hot glue to attach the end in place. Then, I wound it around the egg, applying hot glue every couple of rounds.
For the moss eggs, I broke apart the moss into small pieces, and used hot glue to cover the surface.
And of course, the glitter eggs were just regular glue spread on the egg and glass glitter sprinkled on top.
I love the combination of the three in my antique dough bowl I picked up at a thrift store. I’ve been eyeing them for awhile, but never loved the price tag. I couldn’t pass up this little guy for $7.
I love the mix of twine and moss, but I’m still a little undecided about the glitter eggs. My girls love them, so they’ll have to stay, but they might be a little too glitzy for me.
A simple centerpiece for our casual dining table, just the way I like it. I really need to get my act together and decorate the two walls next to the table. I have ideas, but just keep dragging my feet on putting it all together. Seeing the emptiness in this space makes me want to get started on them soon!
