Let me start by saying that this project is not a new idea, but it is one that can update a space quickly and inexpensively. Now, that’s my type of DIY project, so I thought it would be a perfect little project to share with you all.
I purchased these canvas frames from Michael’s when I first moved into my house nine years ago, and I am embarrassed to say that I was the artist who designed and painted those
beautiful pieces of art. (I’d rather say I just found them that way at a thrift store, but it’s simply not the truth.) They actually hung up in my home for eight years too long, until I finally got around to painting the room and knew they needed to go.
I found some wrapping paper, fabric, and decorative paper and figured out the arrangement of the frames.
Because the original color was dark, I first wrapped each frame in white butcher paper, to make sure none of the original pattern showed through.
I wrapped each canvas in paper or fabric, stapled the edges, and wrapped the corners like a present.
I love that the papers have various textures – it just adds that extra visual interest to my new “artwork”.
