Recently, my dad was rehabbing an old apartment building that was built in the first half of the 1900s, and he would stop by my house on the way home and drop off materials he had ripped out of the space. Normally, this would feel like a daily Christmas gift, but when I’m trying desperately to clean out my garage and back yard. However, I ended up keeping almost everything he brought over, because I just couldn’t turn down the rustic, reclaimed goodness!
One of the loads was a pile of old shiplap paneling that he found behind the drywall on one of the walls. It’s in great shape, but it also has that antique charm of discolored nail holes, wood knots, and even some of the old nails still in the wood.
I cut the paneling down to size and made a graphic for this sign.
Good news! I’ve now made a library of all of the graphics and images I’ve designed and am giving free access to all of my email subscribers. So, if you’d like to create your own sign just like mine, just sign up to receive weekly post updates every Friday, and you’ll gain access to download and print all of my graphics!
I ended up cutting a stencil for this design with my Silhouette, but if I was planning to make just one sign, I would have printed the graphic and used the chalk method for transferring graphics, which you can find the complete tutorial for here.I added a saw tooth hanger to the back in case I choose to hang it on the wall, and that was it!
Super easy, super cheap, and super perfect for fall (in my opinion, at least).
If you don’t want to make your own, I’m selling a few extras in my Etsy shop! As a special thanks for following along and reading this post, feel free to use the coupon code FALLOFFER16 for a 15% discount on this sign, or any other items in my shop, until October 31.
You can see that this thrift store find now holds toys. It actually started as a buffet, I removed the doors, and painted the inside. You can read the full tutorial here.
You can’t miss the view of my animal butt coat rack. It’s a nice catch-all area as this cabinet is right off the main hallway and leads into the area opening up to two of the bedrooms.

Hi Jenny, What treasures from your Dad! The signs all look great – I like the fall arrow sign, too! Well done! Blessings, Janet
It’s so nice when he brings by treasures, although occasionally I need to send them away with him because I just don’t have the room or use for them, but lately, he’s been finding some awesome pieces!
Love this for fall!! I love the rustic elements of this sign. Thanks for sharing with us on the Family Joy Blog Link Party.

This is such a great little idea. My husband does similar things like this.
