Welcome to the 2016 Valentine’s Day Blog Hop! Danielle from over at Creatively Homespun brought together 19 other bloggers and together we created some inspiring Valentine’s Day creations. Everyone created something special to share with you, so be sure to browse through all 20 links!
When trying to figure out what to create for this blog hop, I knew I wanted to stay true to my cheap DIY ways. I created this project with items I had around the house, but at most you might need to buy some rope and a couple pieces of felt.
I saved a few tin cans and went searching for some sticks in the backyard. My daughter loved helping me with this, and my dogs loved that I brought sticks in the house. Throughout the day, I kept finding chewed up pieces on the floor.
I used chalk paint to paint the cans on the inside and outside. I used hot glue to attach the beginning of the rope, and then wrapped it around the can. Another dab of hot glue held the end of the rope in place. Then, I cut out hearts from an old atlas.
For the arrows, I cut out three pieces of felt at a time for the tops of the arrows. A little bit of hot glue around the stick worked perfectly to hold the tops of the arrows in place. I also made a couple with the leftover maps.
It’s an easy and cheap project that saved some items from the recycling bin and helped me to clean up the backyard!
Only after I started taking pictures did I realize one of the maps show my college town, Champaign! I’m a proud Illini from the University of Illinois!
Feel free to pin it and share the Valentine’s love!

Thanks, Lindsay!
If I had to put a finger on it, cupids arrows are my favorite thing about Valentines day decor and crafts. You knocked it out of the park!
Yes, I think I’d say the same about arrows! They are actually on another V-day project I have coming up, so I didn’t realize it until now, but they are my favorite too.
Such a cute idea, Jenny!
Thanks so much, Amy!
I love upcycles/recycles and you did such a good job. I am a sucker for maps and chalk paint.
Thanks, Tiffany! I feel like adding map cutouts or chalk paint are both easy ways to change up decor – I just used both for this one!
SO cute, Jenny! I love the use of maps and sticks from outside. Adorable and super budget friendly!
