Shopping at estate sales has become my newest addiction. Not only do I find it fascinating to see glimpses of the past in the collections of people and families, but you can also snag major deals!
I actually just grabbed this bundt pan to hold some hardware that I couldn’t get a grip on, and then when I actually looked at it, I realized it was adorable! Sure, I’ll take you home for $0.50 and give you a new lease on life. (I’ve never baked a bundt cake, and don’t plan to start anytime soon.)
This pan is fairly large, and the enamel is in great condition, so, logically speaking, this needed to become a flower pot. I added about 3/4″ of an inch of pea gravel to the bottom. Because this doesn’t have drainage holes, and I wasn’t about to drill holes in it (what if I do get the sudden urge to bake a cake?), I needed to add some small rocks at the bottom to keep and extra moisture away from the roots. This is an important step to take whenever you are planting in something that doesn’t have drainage holes, like my little chicken feeder succulent garden, for example.
After filling it with soil and flowers, I placed a shot glass underneath the pan and created a little vase. Now, I have a bi-level floral display, perfect for our picnic table. I’d even put this on our kitchen table!
Since I’m all in the spirit of the 4th of July, I went digging through my craft bin, filled with stuff that I buy on clearance without the slightest idea of what I’ve going to do with it, and found these sparkly floral things. Okay, I actually did buy these with the intention of using some of them at my daughter’s Frozen birthday party. However, I have no idea why I bought red ones, but I’m sure glad I did.
Oh yeah, that amazing table runner was also an estate sale find. It was $1.
Like what you see? I’d love for you to follow along!
