Refinish wood furniture and bring it back to life

Vintage and antique furniture is beautiful, unique and usually extremely sturdy. It’s amazing how a little effort can bring a piece of wood furniture back to life AND make it fit seamlessly into your home decor style. Whether you choose to paint or refinish the natural wood (or a combo of both!), you can create a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture that can last a lifetime!

My philosophy on

Furniture Refinishing

There are many people with some strong opinions about furniture refinishing! I remember the first time I painted a piece of furniture and my dad questioned me as to why I would paint over wood. And, of course, there are many who are far less kind with their choice of words when it comes to painting wood.

I’ll admit, my philosophy on painting furniture has evolved over the years. I am much more prone to restore the natural wood on furniture now, either completely or at least partially. I LOVE a quartersawn oak, or burled wood veneer, or a wood finish with character. I’ve painted over some beautiful pieces of wood that I wish I could get my hands on and strip down to redo!

However, no matter where you are on the paint versus wood furniture debate, one thing we should all agree on is this: No matter what, when we choose to refinish a piece of furniture, we are giving it a second life. We are saving it from the landfill and bringing it back into our homes to be used and enjoyed for years to come. For this, I think we should all agree to be proud!
